The Philippine Society of Safety Practitioners, Middle East Region (PSSP-MER) which is also the Middle East Chapter of the Association of Safety Practitioners Incorporated (ASSPI-MEC) conducted a two-day seminar for the Regional Technical staff of the Department of Labor and Employment, Bureau of Working Conditions (DOLE-BWC) last May 14 and 15, 2009.

The seminar was at the behest of Director Atty. Brenda L. Villafuerte of the Department of Labor and Employment, Bureau of Working Conditions (DOLE-BWC).

The topic on the first day was Job Safety Analysis (JSA) presented by Mr. Peter Q. Panganiban, the PSSP-MER Treasurer. The presentation gave the attendees a better understanding of JSA and how to effectively conduct the process in order to have a safer workplace.

On the second day, Engr. Levi S. Alejo, the PSSP-MER Vice President for Internal Affairs, gave two presentations. The first one was on Overview of Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Management which deals with the 22 main elements of OSH and Loss Control Management.  The second presentation on Safety Audit detailed the requirements and the process of a proper Safety Audit and its difference from Safety Inspection.

The 22 attendees were appreciative of the new knowledge they receive from the learning session. DOLE-BWC capped the seminar by giving Certificates of Appreciation to the Technical Speakers from PSSP-MER/ASPPI-MEC.
